We constructively engage with the regulatory community around the globe, supporting efforts to facilitate fair and efficient markets, reduce systemic risk, and help investors to make well-informed investment decisions. We participate in regulatory consultations on key issues for the alternative investment industry and maintain a regular dialogue with regulators. Our regulatory engagement is supported by the SBAI's Global Regulatory Committee, which has balanced representation of institutional investors and investment managers.
Continuously improving the Standards and producing practical industry guidance in collaboration with asset managers and institutional investors allowed us to develop in depth expertise in many areas of practices within the alternative investment industry. Many of these areas, including responsible investment, conflicts of interest, risk management, fund governance, cyber security, and systemic stability are also key priorities for the regulatory community.
In 2014, we were granted Affiliate Membership of the International Organization of Securities Commission (IOSCO). This is the international body that brings together the world’s securities regulators and is recognised as the global standard-setter for the securities sector. IOSCO develops, implements, and promotes adherence to internationally recognised standards for securities regulation. It works intensively with the G20 and the Financial Stability Board (FSB) on the global regulatory reform agenda. We feed into the IOSCO process and actively participate in the Affiliate Members Consultative Committee (AMCC).
