Regulatory Engagement

We maintain active links with the supervisory community.

We have participated in many regulatory consultations on key issues for the alternative investment industry and maintain regular dialogue with regulators.

Over the years, we have developed in depth expertise in many areas of practices within the alternative investment industry. This has been achieved through our process of continuously improving the Standards and through the guidance developed within our SBAI Toolbox. Many of these areas, including responsible investment, conflicts of interest, risk management, fund governance, cyber security, and systemic stability are also key priorities for the regulatory community. We actively share our findings and standard-setting initiatives with global securities regulators to share solutions that investors and asset managers have implemented to address industry issues.

In 2014, we were granted Affiliate Membership of the International Organization of Securities Commission (IOSCO). This is the international body that brings together the world’s securities regulators and is recognised as the global standard-setter for the securities sector. IOSCO develops, implements, and promotes adherence to internationally recognised standards for securities regulation. It works intensively with the G20 and the Financial Stability Board (FSB) on the global regulatory reform agenda. We feed into the IOSCO process and actively participate in the Affiliate Members Consultative Committee (AMCC).
