Thomas Deinet was appointed Executive Director of the SBAI in September 2008. In 2007, Thomas joined the Hedge Fund Working Group to project manage the development of practice standards proposed by a group of 14 leading hedge fund managers that led to the establishment of the SBAI (then known as the HFSB).
Before joining the SBAI, Thomas was a senior manager at Oliver Wyman, a management consulting firm, where he extensively worked with major financial institutions in Europe in both asset management as well as corporate and investment banking. He joined Oliver Wyman in 2002 after working as an analyst in energy trading for a major commodities trading firm.
Thomas is a regular speaker at hedge fund and regulatory conferences, and represents the SBAI at the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).
He is a holder of a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany and an MSc from Purdue University, USA. Thomas is a CFA charterholder.

Zarrina joined the SBAI in 2009 and serves as Director of Stakeholder Relations and Operations, where she is responsible for leading global stakeholder engagement and overseeing the organisation’s operational framework.
She brings extensive international experience across financial services, telecommunications, and development organisations. Prior to joining the SBAI, she was Business Manager at NEC UK Ltd, focusing on operational and commercial coordination. She previously spent ten years with the Aga Khan Development Network, working closely with senior leadership on diplomatic engagement and contributing to the negotiation and preparation of international treaties and agreements across Central Asia. She was also an interpreter for His Highness the Aga Khan. She began her career supporting diplomatic relations as Protocol Officer and Translator to the US Ambassador in Tajikistan.
Zarrina holds a Master’s degree in International Business Management from the University of Westminster and a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from Dushanbe State Pedagogical University. She is fluent in English, Russian, and Tajik (Persian).

Brian Digney joined the SBAI in March 2023 in the role of Research and Content Director. He is responsible for content development and co-ordination of the ongoing and future working groups on a wide variety of topics, including valuation of private assets, ESG & carbon footprinting, governance, insurance linked strategies, digital assets, asset management regulation and compliance as well as new topics to be determined in the future.
Prior to joining the SBAI, Brian was the Head of Due Diligence & Governance Oversight at Innocap Global Investment Management (Ireland) Ltd (2018-2023) in Dublin, a subsidiary of Innocap Investment Management Inc., a US$50bn hedge fund platform. He acted as Designated Person for Operational Risk Management, a regulated role by the Central Bank of Ireland. He also sat on Innocap’s Irish Risk Oversight and Valuation Committees. In 2017, Brian joined Albourne Partners in London as a Senior Operational Due Diligence Analyst. From 2015 to 2017 he was employed as an Operational Due Diligence Analyst at Mercer Sentinel in London. From 2010 to 2015 he held various Associate level roles at Decura LLP, Morgan Stanley and Citi.
Brian holds an LLB Hons in Law with Criminology and an M.Sc. in Management and Corporate Governance from University of Ulster. Brian is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.

Isabelle Mather joined the SBAI in March 2021 and is responsible for leading the organisation’s EMEA stakeholder engagement strategy, with a focus on strengthening relationships and expanding the SBAI’s presence across the region.
She brings nearly two decades of experience in the alternative investment industry, spanning investor relations, distribution, and operational leadership. Before joining the SBAI, Isabelle served as Head of Sales at Aurum Funds Ltd. Earlier, she was Chief Operating Officer and Head of Marketing at Salt Rock Capital, a global macro hedge fund, where she played a key role in building the firm’s operational and commercial platform.
She holds a BSc in Physics from Imperial College London.

Shani Mogan joined the SBAI in September 2021 as Events and Marketing Manager. In this role, she leads the planning, coordination, and delivery of the organisation’s global events programme, alongside overseeing its marketing initiatives.
Prior to joining SBAI, Shani served as an Events Specialist at IHS Markit within the Financial Services division, where she worked closely with the CEO’s office on high-profile initiatives. Earlier in her career, she held the position of Regional Sales Manager at Close Brothers Premium Finance. Shani brings over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, with a strong background spanning events, marketing, and client engagement.

Marissa Goodier joined the SBAI in October 2022. In her role as Research & Content Analyst she works closely with the Research & Content Director, helping co-ordinate SBAI working groups and communities, as well as assisting with research into emerging issues within the alternative investment industry.
Prior to joining the SBAI, Marissa held a number of research-based roles and internships including at the M&A Research Centre and IHS Markit.
Marissa received an MSc in Investment Management from Bayes Business School (formerly known as Cass) in 2022, and a BA in Economics from Richmond the American International University in London in 2019. Marissa has passed CAIA level 1.
