Managing Director , Blackstone
Charmaine Chin is a Managing Director in Blackstone Multi-Asset Investing (BXMA) and the Head of Asia Manager Selection. Ms. Chin is based in Singapore and leads BXMA’s investment activities across Asia.
Before joining Blackstone, Ms. Chin worked at Fullerton Fund Management in Singapore where she was involved in managing a global portfolio of hedge funds, private equity and private credit funds. She also led due diligence for co-investments and late-stage growth investments. Prior to Fullerton, Ms. Chin spent 12 years as a Partner and Managing Director at K2 Advisors in New York, part of Franklin Templeton’s Alternatives division. There she oversaw all of K2’s investments in Asia, as well as all investments globally in credit and event-driven strategies. Prior to K2, Ms. Chin worked at Goldman Sachs in the Special Situations Group, focused on opportunistic investing across equities and credit.
Ms. Chin began her career in the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs in New York and Hong Kong. Ms. Chin received a BA from Harvard University, where she graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
Executive Director, SBAI
Thomas Deinet was appointed Executive Director of the SBAI (previously known as the HFSB) in 2008. In 2007, Thomas joined the working group to project manage the development of practice standards proposed by 14 leading international alternative investment managers that led to the establishment of the SBAI.
Prior to joining the SBAI, he was a senior manager at Oliver Wyman, where he extensively worked with major financial institutions in Europe covering asset management as well as corporate and investment banking. Thomas also worked as an analyst in energy trading for a major commodities trading firm.
Thomas is a graduate of the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, with a major in industrial engineering and holds an MSc from Purdue University, USA. Thomas is a CFA charterholder.
Head of Alternatives , Fullerton Fund Management Company Ltd
Huck Khim is the Head of Alternatives and sits on Fullerton’s Investment Committee.
Previously, Huck Khim worked for Credit Suisse's Customised Fund Investment Group as a Partner on the Global Investment Committee, managing and investing the private equity assets on behalf of its international institutional clients. Prior to Credit Suisse, he was the Head of Asian Funds Investments at Schroder Ventures Group, having raised and invested in Asian private equity opportunities. Prior to Schroder, Huck Khim was an Associate Director of Private Equity Funds at Hermes Private Equity, where he was responsible for managing capital for some of the largest UK pensions. Huck Khim started his career with Government of Singapore Investment Corporation Special Investments where he was involved in investing in private equity funds and co-investments in Europe.
Huck Khim graduated with an undergraduate degree and a Masters in Economics from the Karl-Ruprechts Universitaet, Heidelberg, Germany.

Stephen Leads Bank of Americas Prime Services sales efforts in Singapore focusing on securing new and organic financing mandates and managing relationships with global and local hedge funds, asset managers, family office and sovereign wealth funds.
Stephen holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Macquarie University, Sydney Australia.
Research and Content Director , SBAI
Maria Long joined the SBAI as Research & Content Director in August 2020. She is responsible for content development and co-ordination of the ongoing and future working groups on a wide variety of topics, including governance, insurance linked strategies, standardisation of disclosure, valuation, alternative credit, responsible investment, asset management regulation and compliance as well as new topics to be determined in the future.
Prior to the SBAI, Maria spent 12 years at Man FRM, most recently in Operational Due Diligence (2015-2020) and before that as Head of FRM Middle Office (2008-2015). Maria also has worked in Fund Administration in Dublin and in Operations at Investment Managers in London.
Maria received an BSc Natural Sciences (Astronomy & Planetary Science) with First Class Honours in 2017 from The Open University.

Debra Ng is a Partner and Shareholder of Albourne Partners. She joined Albourne as Portfolio Analyst in 2006 and heads the Albourne Singapore office.
Prior to that Debra was Regional Business Director of Strategy and business development at LFC Management Ltd (Singapore), (an Asian FoHF), for two years. Debra worked for four years at Citigroup Asset Management (Singapore) as Director, Institutional Advisory from 2000. Before that she worked at Capital International (Singapore) as Assistant Vice-President with Portfolio Management support and institutional client relationship management responsibilities from 1994 to 2000. Debra started her career as an Investment Analyst covering the Technology, EMS, Autos and small conglomerate sectors at DBS Investment Research (Singapore) from 1991 to 1994.
Debra graduated from the California State University, Los Angeles (USA) with a BSc. Business Administration in Finance with Economics in 1990. She attained the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation in 2006.
Senior Advisor , Orchard Global Asset Management
Raúl Rosales works as Senior Advisor for Orchard Global Asset Management in London and currently serves as a senior fellow at Imperial College Business School. In addition, he serves on the management committee of the "Singapore Green Finance Centre" (SGFC) with the support of the MAS and a group of financial industry partners.
His background in the financial industry spans 30 years, most recently at EBRD as Senior Banker for Energy & Natural Resources and previously at BBVA as Global Head of Multilateral Development Banks.
He is a Dr in Civil Engineering specialising in sustainable infrastructure and energy project financing by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain.

Kim leads the Group’s investment management activities at Singlife.
He has previously held senior executive roles with ICAP, Deutsche Bank and ABN AMRO Bank in London, New York, Tokyo and Shanghai, always with significant Risk, Regulatory and Revenue responsibility.
Kim is also Chairman of Navigator Investment Services Limited, a Singapore Life company.

Vesa Syrjäläinen works as a Development Manager, Responsible Investmant at Varma, where he develops processes in several asset classes.
Vesa has a MSc. In Finance from the University of Vaasa, and he is a CFA Charterholder.
MD, Head of External Managers Department, GIC
Betty Tay is Managing Director, Head of External Managers Department in GIC. In her current capacity, Betty oversees the day-to-day activities of the External Managers Department, including portfolio management for all of GIC’s public market external managers programs, manager selection and monitoring, operations and administration for the department. In addition, Betty is a member of GIC’s Business Continuity Plan Steering Committee.
Betty joined GIC in July 1999 as a Senior Portfolio Manager. She served as a Portfolio Manager within the Emerging Markets Group from 1999 to 2002. In this capacity, Betty was posted to GIC’s London office, and was instrumental in developing portfolio management expertise in non-Asia emerging markets. In 2002, Betty joined the External Managers Group.
Betty has over 20 years of experience in international financial markets including trading functions across various products in local and international financial institutions. She began her career as a proprietary trader with the Development Bank of Singapore (DBS). Prior to joining GIC, Betty spent 6 years as a Principal at Bankers Trust Company (Singapore). She served as the Head of the Foreign Exchange Forwards Division and managed the firm’s balance sheet in Singapore.
Betty graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1991 with a BSc in Mathematics. She also holds both Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations. She completed the Stanford Executive Program in August 2014. Betty is a member of the Investment Advisory Committee for the Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism Limited.
MD & Head of Total Portfolio Sustainable Investing, Economics & Investment Strategy (EIS) Department, GIC Private Limited
Rachel is Head of Total Portfolio Sustainable Investing in the Economics & Investment Strategy Department and she is also a member of the Sustainability Committee in GIC.
The team looks at long-term sustainability trends that have a material impact on the GIC total portfolio. The team is also leading research on climate change to identify investment themes and help integrate climate change considerations into GIC’s investment processes. The Sustainability Committee in GIC oversees the firm’s sustainability policies and implementation.
She was named one of the Top 50 Women in Investment Management by Institutional Investor in 2021, in recognition of her industry thought leadership. She is active in industry efforts on advancing sustainability-related capabilities. She is a Member of the MAS Green Finance Industry Taskforce (GFIT) Workgroup on Green Taxonomy, a Technical Advisor to the Sustainable Finance Asia Institute (SFIA) and an ExCo member of Investment Management Association of Singapore (IMAS).
Rachel joined GIC in 2005 and before heading the Total Portfolio Sustainable Investing team in 2022, her role was in long-term thematic research, global macro research and investment strategy. Prior to joining GIC, Rachel was with the Monetary Authority of Singapore working in economics research as well monetary management roles.
Rachel graduated with a 1st class honours in Economics from the National University of Singapore and a Masters in International Politics and East Asia from the University of Warwick in the UK.

Shah Jahan Abu Thahir is a Managing Director and Head of Global Markets for South East Asia and is based in Singapore.
In this role, Shah is responsible for all aspects of the Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) and Equities business across South East Asia. He promotes and leads cross product client coverage and collective coordination across FICC and Equity.
Shah joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch in 2007. He was previously head of FICC Sales and was responsible for strategizing, formulating and executing sales and distribution of FICC products across South East Asia client base.
Before joining Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Shah was Director at Citibank responsible for South East Asia Structure product sales.
Shah holds a BBA degree in Finance, Investment and Banking from University of Wisconsin- Madison, USA.

Globally recognised CIO with 20 years+ investment management experience of $50bn++ permanent wealth funds, currently managing the Endowment Fund of Singapore Management University.
As a member of the C-suite and Investment Committee of the Abu Dhabi Investment Council, Harvey helped extend the Yale Model into one of the most sophisticated “endowment” portfolios globally with direct application to Family Offices and large Institutional Investors.
He proposed, architected and was responsible for running the structured institution wide formal Investment Process, was Chairman of the Due Diligence Committee and sat on most senior Committees.
Harvey manages multi-asset class, global investment portfolios on both a direct internal and external basis via strong relationships with leading managers.
