SBAI Welcomes Heather Tobin of CPP Investments and Jason Tan of Orchard Global to Its Board

The Standards Board for Alternative Investments (SBAI) is pleased to announce the election of Heather Tobin, Senior Managing Director & Global Head of Capital Markets and Factor Investing at CPP Investments, and Jason Tan, Head of Asia-Pacific at Orchard Global, as new Trustees to its Board. The addition of these two distinguished industry leaders strengthens the SBAI’s continued commitment to promoting responsible practices, robust governance, and transparency across the alternative investment industry. Their extensive experience and global perspective will contribute meaningfully to the SBAI’s mission of advancing industry standards for allocators and managers alike.

Heather leads CPP Investments’ global Capital Markets and Factor Investing department, which includes the External Portfolio Management, Systematic Strategies, Investment Engineering & Analytics, and Strategy, Risk & Operations groups. Before this appointment, she was Managing Director and Head of Investment Portfolio Management in the Office of the Chief Investment Officer. Heather has also worked at the World Bank and Morgan Stanley. She holds a BComm from Dalhousie University and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

Jason Tan is Head of Asia-Pacific at Orchard Global and serves as Chief Executive of Orchard Global Asset Management (S) Pte Ltd, the firm’s Asia affiliate. He also leads the firm's legal structuring group globally and has previously held various origination, structuring and distribution leadership roles at Morgan Stanley and HSBC. Jason began his career at Allen & Overy LLP specialising in structured finance and derivatives law. He holds an MA in Jurisprudence from Trinity College, University of Oxford and is an alumnus of Harvard Business School. He is a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales and an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.

The SBAI Board of Trustees provides strategic guidance on the organisation’s priorities, global outreach, and standard-setting initiatives while representing a broad cross-section of the alternative investment ecosystem.
