New Vacancy: Director, North America
The Standards Board for Alternative Investments (SBAI) is strengthening its team by hiring a Director of North America who will be responsible for all relationship management, event programming, activities and business development for the SBAI in the region. The Director will work closely with the SBAI’s global team, the SBAI’s senior advisor for North America, and the North American committee.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stakeholder Relations: Manage the relationships with all existing Signatories (asset managers) and Investor Chapter members (allocators) of the SBAI.
- Business Development: Manage and progress a pipeline of prospective members (asset owners and managers) in North America.
- Networking / Events: Work closely with the SBAI team to develop and execute all activities in North America. Activities: successfully deliver our annual flagship forums in New York City and Montreal/Toronto, regional roundtables/practical workshops and educational webinars, contributing to developing agendas and sourcing speakers
- Programming: Develop a business plan to grow and convene SBAI Communities & dedicated programmes in North America.
- Active Promotion: Prominently represent the SBAI at industry conferences and events in North America. Work closely with the SBAI-affiliated partners and other industry organisations to execute goals.
- Collaboration: Ensure that market intelligence is collated and communicated to the SBAI team to help inform content development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Passion for asset management, investments, the markets, business operations and genuinely care about improving the alternatives asset management industry.
- Clear understanding of the alternatives industry, knowledge of issues across asset classes, business operations and regulatory matters.
- Consultant or allocator background is a plus.
- Familiarity with the SBAI’s activities is a plus
- Experience building and nurturing relationships with asset allocators and managers.
- Strong project and time management skills, with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication skills and proven experience working in a team environment.
- Strong organisational, writing and presentation skills.
- 8+ years of experience working in the investment industry.
- The position is based in North America and will be remote (candidates can decide to base themselves in the United States or Canada – Eastern Standard Time zone preferred)
- Expect to spend 20 percent of time traveling in North America.
