Bringing managers and investors together to set standards for the alternative investment industry

Alternative Investments Standards

The Standards address key issues relating to alternative investment practices, covering the areas of:

  • Disclosure
  • Valuation
  • Risk Management
  • Fund Governance
  • Shareholders Conduct

Managers achieve conformity with the Standards on a “comply-or-explain” basis and make their disclosure statements available to existing and prospective investors upon request.

The Standards are as relevant today as when they were created, as demonstrated by recent industry events and regulatory actions. Therefore, the SBAI continues to respond to changes in industry practices and investor expectations by consulting publicly on improvements to the Standards. For more information on the Relevance of the Standards relating to specific industry events and regulatory actions please see here.

A summary of the Standards is available here.
